  • Râmnicu Vâlcea has booming cyber-crime industry with more than 100 gangs operating in the town of 127,000 people
  • Bulk of scams are fraudsters offering fake goods for sale to online shoppers around the world, including the U.S., on websites like eBay

  • Despite being a poor town, it boasts a Mercedes Benz dealership and a upscale shopping mall where the fraudsters spend their cash
  • One ringleader is nicknamed The Dom, after his love of £200-a-bottle Dom Perignon champagne

Daily-Mail---May-2013-008The Dom liked to live large. Big cars, big bling rings, a Rolex Oyster watch on one arm, a Jimmy Choo-shoed girl leaning on the other.

His suits were so sharp friends joked he shaved with them. He earned his nickname for his love of £200 a bottle Dom Perignon champagne which he could afford – thanks to a life of ripping off online shoppers around the world.

But The Dom is just one of hundreds of Romanians operating out of just one small town who rake in millions of pounds a year from internet fraud.

Râmnicu Vâlcea, dubbed Scamville, is the global capital for cyber-scammers.
