Now Moldovans plot a move to Britain using ‘granny’ loophole

Romanian passports are being snapped up

HUNDREDS of thousands of Moldovans will exploit a loophole to flood into Britain when visa restrictions on Romania and Bulgaria are lifted, MPs were told yesterday.

Tory backbencher Philip Hollobone claimed they are using ancestral rights to obtain Romanian passports in preparation for coming to Britain next year.

Now 10,000 a month are bypassing the restrictions by snapping up Romanian passports which they are eligible for if they have Romanian grandparents, as most Moldovans do.
