Embarrassing new details have emerged of Colin Powell’s intimate email exchanges with a Romanian MEP who claimed he was „the greatest love of my life”.
The 76-year-old former US secretary of state has denied having an affair with Corina Cretu, 45, a former diplomat and spokesman for the Romanian government.
However, emails apparently stolen from Mr Powell’s account by a hacker and posted online purport to detail the intensity of Ms Cretu’s feelings for the married former general.
„I love you,” she wrote in November 2011, shortly before her own marriage. „10-15 years of love … Intense love … YOU were my greatest love of my life but i fond finally, a reaistc love.”
The email exchange, which was posted on the Cryptome file sharing website, begins in August 2005, months after Mr Powell stepped down as George W Bush’s top diplomat.
