Spokesperson of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Alina Gorghiu claims that Premier Victor Ponta, who is also running in the presidential election under the PSD-PC-UNPR banner, „defied” the Romanians in Italy and Spain and used the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Department for Romanians Everywhere in his campaign.
„The Liberal Christian Alliance (ACL) disapproves of the derisive and completely disrespectful way Victor Ponta treated the Romanian diaspora with whom he met this weekend in Turin and Madrid. I find with regret that Victor Ponta doesn’t have the slightest intention to bring the Romanians who work abroad back home. The grand union the PSD presidential hopeful speaks of is in fact the grand rift Victor Ponta invites to through his defiant attitude towards the Romanians outside country borders. How does the PSD candidate for Romanian President imagine that he can convince the diaspora to return home with warnings like ‘Ready your wallet to pay the bill of an incompetent governance’,” Gorghiu says in a release this Monday to AGERPRES.
In Gorghiu’s opinion, Ponta „used” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Department for Romanians Everywhere in the campaign.
„Incapable to offer solutions to the issues raised by the people he met in Italy and Spain, Victor Ponta did what he knows best: he defied them. And not anyway, but on the Romanians’ money. For his electoral trip, the Premier — candidate Victor Ponta used the government apparatus to garner votes from the Romanians living in Italy and Spain. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Department for Romanians Everywhere ensured the PSD presidential hopeful all the necessary conditions for his campaigning to unfold impeccably,” the PNL deputy said.
