Romanians accused of endangering lives by stealing cables skip court

A Romanian duo accused of endangering lives by stealing power cables have gone missing after being granted bail at a Scottish court.

Silvin Andrei, 28, and Ion Ozon, 32, are alleged to have sparked a house fire and put people’s lives in danger as they slept.

They were due to appear at Perth Sheriff Court on Thursday but failed to turn up and their solicitors said they had no idea where they were.

Warrants were issued for the arrest of both men by Sheriff Lindsay Foulis.

Andrei and Ozon are alleged to have travelled to Scotland and carried out a spate of metal thefts in the space of a few days last October.
