Today in London, we were denied our basic right to vote in the Romanian presidential election. At Wembley, the doors were closed two hours before the official closing time (9pm). Shortly after 7pm, we were told by police that they are closing the doors at the request of the Romanian officials while they were processing the people stuck inside. We never saw the doors opening again.
In my view this was a clear breach of our right to vote. There no reason to say to people that the pooling station is closing at 9 if you’re closing the doors at 7. Despite not being able to vote, it felt really good spending 4 hours with an amazing crowd of Romanians. Proud to have been there. I hope to see Mr. Ponta where he belongs: in prison and not president!
