There were 762 people aged under 26 found sleeping on the streets between 2013/14, compared with 316 in 2010/11 – a 141 per cent increase according to figures from charity St Mungo’s Broadway.
Charities warned the figures were indicative of a „tragedy” for London’s youth.
The number of Romanians (730) has replaced Poles (627) as the most frequently seen nationality in the latter group.
Across all age brackets, 6,508 people were recorded as sleeping rough in the city during 2013/14, meaning just over 10 per cent were aged under 26.
