The Times : Romanians locked out of polling booths

 Romania’s foreign minister quit yesterday amid a voting scandal that threatens to overshadow this weekend’s run-off to elect a president for the EU’s second-poorest country.

Titus Corlatean bowed to criticism of the poorly organised first round of voting when thousands of Romanian expats were unable to cast their ballot.

Mr Corlatean refused to take the blame for the fiasco, in which some voters were turned away after waiting for six hours
